Team 64 had a much better showing this week. We finally drew a # good enough to start up front in the heat, and not too bad for the invert in the feature. We won the heat, started 6th in the feature, moved to 2nd at the checkered flag. This team needed some good luck so bad, it felt like we won! We will try to win soon; but we’re up against some tough competition. Congradulations to Mike Bennet on the win. See you at the track!

Wow, talk about being in a slump! The only good news I have is the car was really fast, even after getting hit and running into the infield fence. We moved from 16th to the top ten, I think it was 6th or 7th, got into someone elses wreck, sarted at the rear with a bent rim and axle, came back to the top ten, got taken out with 2 to go. After that we ended up 16th. What a night! Congradulations to Mikey Corbin on the win, if I couldn’t win this race theres noone I would rather win it. He’s a  good guy and a heck of a good driver! I need to apologize for losing my cool in the heat race, it was well deserved, but it probably won’t help anything as far as the bulldozer is concerned. Sorry it has taken so long to post, if you saw the car after the races, you knew we had a lot of work to do! We’ll be at the track Saturday night- see you there.

Team 64 had a rough night at the Winchester Speedway. The dreaded pill draw didn’t go any better this week, we started dead last in a heat with a number of good cars in it. We finished 5th in the heat, which meant starting 13th in the feature. It was a rough night; we made it up to 7th or 8th until the last corner where some hard contact caused us to drop back to 10th. The crew is working hard to repair damage for Saturday’s big 25 lap double points race. See you at the track!

The 64 team had better luck in the heat race this time, getting a front row start in the feature. We set the car up for a real slick track; we just got it too tight. Mike was able to hold onto 6th at the end, so it wasn’t the end of the world, just not what we wanted.

Well, the 64 team can’t buy any luck with the pill draw! We had to start in the back of the last heat. By the end of that race we were in 4th, almost pulling out a 3rd. This put us starting 12th in the feature. The car was fast on the high side, but kept getting caught up in traffic, finally settling for 7th place on the night. We have work to do this week, mechanical, not too much body work though. Mike plans on having the car at the Mayfest in Strasburg this Saturday, but won’t be able to be in the parade because of a later start time. We will be beside the Stover Funeral Home all morning. Come by , say hi and get your picture taken in the 64 car.

The win last week was great, but that means starting no higher than 12th the next week. We had moved up to about the 8th spot when the 6th place car lost control, hitting the wall hard and coming down the track. With nowhere to go we ended up getting a flat right front tire. Pee Wee and the guys from the 14w limited of Bryan Wright got the tire changed and got us back without losing a lap! Thanks guys! After that we started in the rear and made it back to 11th at the end. Not to bad, just one of those racin deals. We are off this coming week, May 2nd, and the weather isn’t looking too good anyway, so we will probably see you in two weeks a the track

Team 64’s 1st win of 2009.  Started 3rd in the feature.  Made a pass for the lead in turn #1/2 and gained the lead and held it from the beginning to the end.  At times it was tough racing as the track was extremely slick but was able to hold on to the end!  I would like to thank all of my sponsors and crew and friends that support me and enable me to race!  It was nice to have mom and dad there to celebrate with me!  This is the first time they have been there for a win!  We had a late night with a celebration at Denny’s in Strasburg and then headed home to clean up the Ford for the car show at Shenandoah Ford.  We headed to bed at 4 a.m. and up again at 7 a.m. to get ready for the car show!!!!!  Been a busy weekend but very rewarding also!

The rain stopped about 1 pm at the Winchester speedway, the track was fast and the pits muddy. The 64 team had a respectable showing with a heat win and 4th in the feature. The crew is busy cleaning and getting ready for the next race this Saturday. We are hoping to be in victory lane soon!

4/8/09

April 8th, 2009

The first race of 09 wasn’t exactly what the team was hoping for. We started the feature 8th and were hoping to finish a strong top five, until the 6th lap when we were hit in the side and spun out. By rule that means you sart at the back, just in front of the car that caused the spin. That meant starting 22nd (it was a 23 car field), Mike drove back up to 9th place by lap 15. Not terrible, just not the win we were hoping for. The car is almost done, we’ll be back Sat. for more!
