We had a good # draw this time, the pole for the 2nd heat. Mike made the best of it by pulling out to a commanding lead @ the checkered! He then drew a 7 for the invert, meaning starting 6th. If you read this often you know the car has been tight; not this time. Mike held on for 6th with a loose race car. We will be at Hagerstown this weekend for the Shamrock Nationals. Time trials and heats on Friday, Consilations and features on Saturday. Come on up- it should be a good show.
The night started with a decent # draw, we started 4th in the 2nd heat. The #64 was fast, ended up 3rd and that qualified us 5th for the feature through the invert. We had some good hard racing all night, moved into 2nd and chaced after the 1m of Mike Bennet, just like everyone else has all year. Congrats to Mike and crew on their 6th win in 09. One more point race at Winchester, then the Shamrock nationals at Hagerstown, the 200 at Winchester, the southern Maryland nationals at Potomac, then our nationals at winchester on Oct. 18 & 19. Come see us at the track.
Sorry again for the delay in updates. We drew #21 on sunday, starting on the pole in the second heat! Almost forgot what to do in that situation; we led all six laps on the dry/slick winchester track, then with the invert we started 10th. The car was running good when the trans locked up going into turn 3. The car spun around and slammed the wall on the drivers side pretty hard. We worked all week to change the trans, rear gear and other parts like wheels and tires. This past week we had a normal bad draw and ended up 5th in the heat, started 3rd in the feature, the car was fast, but a little too tight in the middle to make the pass on David Kaiser in the 0 car. Congrats to David and crew and to Mike Corbin, who passed us for second at the end of the race. After last week this feels like a win. Well, we gotta get back to it so we’ll be back Sat.
Rained out, rescheduled for SUNDAY 23 AUG 09 @ 3:00
Sorry race fans for taking so long with updates, we’ve been real busy with work lately; and thats a good thing. We had a bad # draw again last week, starting in the last heat in the back again. The car was fast, had moved up to the fourth spot when a rookie driver cut down on us and busted a tire. Sixth place was all we could do after that. We started 18th again and moved up to 10th at the end. Not too bad on a very dry and very slick track.
A last place start in the heat races had us starting 18th in the feature. Our car was real fast; we were able to pass 11 cars and ended up 7th by the time the checkerd flag flew. That got us the hard charger award for the night( thanks to Lowery Custom Sawmilling). The guys have the car just about ready for saturday, see you at the races!
Team 64 had a good starting spot, on the pole! The car was fast at first, just a little tight, meaning boiling brake fluid by the 5th lap. We held the lead until a caution and restart; Mike Bennet got by, the car just wouldn’t turn. We had to settle for 3rd at the checkered flag, not too bad, but we really wanted to beat those two cars. Congrats to Bennet and Corbin- we’ll get em next time. See you at the track!
Racing overdose weekend is over. Everone here is pretty tired, we didn’t have the best finishes this weekend, started 12th on friday, ending up 7th, sarted 7th on sat. held on to 5th with a very tight racecar. The car was fast in the start of the race; seemed like brake failure on the rear brakes. The guys will have it fixed for next sat. See you at the track.
Team 64 WINS! With the slickest track we’ve seen in a while, starting 4th, the car was fast, but so was everyone else it seemed. After a fierce battle with the 0 of David Kaiser, we crossed the line first! Thanks to the fans and sponsors for your support. Congrats to Kris Holliday on his victory in the limited division, go blue oval! See you friday at the track.
